From boardroom strategy to weekend sideline support, Rob Goodhew brings clarity and authenticity to complex restructuring cases, alongside managing his kids’ sports teams. Recently promoted to Managing Director, Rob’s career reflects two decades of leadership, cross-border expertise and a deep commitment to helping clients navigate uncertainty with confidence and purpose.
Rob Goodhew’s journey from a trainee accountant to Managing Director at Kroll is defined by a passion for solving complex problems and a grounded approach to leadership. Whether guiding clients through financial distress or supporting his children’s weekend matches, Rob’s steady presence and collaborative mindset continue to make a lasting impact.
“I’ve always believed that clarity and authenticity are essential when the stakes are high,” Rob shares. “Clients need more than technical advice, they need confidence that they’re making the right decisions in a real-world situation.”
Finding Clarity in Complexity
Rob began his career in 2003, assisting businesses and their stakeholders in a variety of sectors including hospitality, travel, manufacturing, startups and aged care in the mid-market deal with stress and distress, delivering necessary solutions in the circumstances. Around 2011, his work expanded into assisting businesses with the financial services sector which often included contentious elements. These cases demanded deeper investigation, strategic thinking and a composed approach to high-pressure situations; qualities Rob embraced as he built a reputation for navigating complexity with precision and care.
Over the years, Rob has led several high-profile mandates that showcase his ability to manage intricate financial scenarios. He led the financial review of an online trading and brokerage firm that provided access to multi asset platforms, including forex, shares, indices, metals, futures and bonds. When the business faced regulatory intervention and breached capital requirements, Robert worked closely with the FCA to help the client achieve a solvent solution. He also co-led the run-off of a Gibraltar-based motor insurer with gross written premiums exceeding £100 million and over 120,000 policyholders. His role involved helping to determine the optimal run-off strategy to protect policyholders and ensure regulatory compliance. Robert has managed the wind-down of a peer-to-peer lending platform, which required detailed analysis to determine the most effective administration strategy, including securing court approval for an administration funding plan to facilitate loan collections on behalf of lenders.
Additionally, Robert is currently leading the wind-down of Crown Agents, an international development company headquartered in the UK, which delivered humanitarian projects in Ukraine, Africa and other globally challenging locations. His leadership ensured an orderly process was put in place in difficult circumstances.
One of his most current engagements is assisting Kroll’s Caymen office in wind-down of a Caymen domiciled fund with its Investment Manager based in Zurich with a reported NAV of £150m. Rob is also acting as Administrator on certain companies within the 79th Group, which involves suspected fraud and offshore structures spanning Switzerland, Canada, Dubai and the United States. “It’s a situation where monies invested by investors does not appear to correlate to known assets,” Rob explains. “That raises serious questions about governance and oversight, and it’s our job initially to bring clarity to that picture.”
Rob gravitates toward mandates that require formal appointments, wind-downs and cross-border coordination. His leadership style is pragmatic and composed, helping clients make informed decisions during moments of uncertainty.
Collaboration Across Service Lines
At Kroll, Rob works across teams to deliver integrated solutions. Restructuring often intersects with valuation, forensics and compliance, and Rob believes collaboration is essential to solving the toughest problems. “It’s not just about technical knowledge,” he says. “It’s about bringing together the right people to get the right outcome.”
His promotion to Managing Director reflects his ability to lead under pressure, build trust and deliver results that matter. Colleagues describe Rob as someone who leads with quiet confidence and a deep sense of purpose. He’s known for simplifying complex issues and guiding teams through challenging situations with transparency and accountability.
Life Beyond the Mandates
Outside of work, Rob’s world is grounded in family and sport. Weekends are often spent on the sidelines of rugby, football or tennis matches, cheering on his children. “Those moments are important to me,” Rob shares. “It might sound obvious, but I’d encourage anyone to take a step back and not miss what truly matters. Being present is an underrated skill.” His commitment to family life reflects a broader belief in maintaining perspective, valuing both professional purpose and personal connection.
A recent highlight was attending the Women’s Rugby World Cup with his son, enjoying back-to-back matches. It was a moment that captured Rob’s appreciation for shared experiences and the importance of staying grounded. His own rugby journey began in school and continued through university. Though he no longer plays, he remains a passionate supporter of Exeter and Harlequins, often with his children in tow. Match days have become a regular part of family life.
Looking ahead
As the financial services sector continues to evolve, Rob sees increasing scrutiny around governance, investor protection and cross-border regulation. “The pressure is mounting, but that’s where restructuring professionals can make a real difference,” he says. “By bringing transparency and practical solutions, we help restore confidence and guide businesses through uncertainty.”
With a career built on purpose and a promotion that marks a new chapter, Rob remains focused on what matters, mostly helping clients work through complexity and staying grounded in the things that matter outside of it. His steady leadership, collaborative mindset and commitment to impact make him a standout figure in the restructuring world.
