On December 22, 2015, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Securities and Futures Commission in Hong Kong which will bring about cooperation and exchange of information between the regulators. The MOU aims to strengthen supervision and oversight of regulated entities that are involved in cross border activities between the United States and Hong Kong.
The MOU will cover markets and organized trading platforms, central counterparties and intermediaries, dealers and other market participants.
