John Imperiale

John Imperiale is a director in the Expert Services practice, based in the New York office. He has over 10 years of experience advising clients and managing engagement teams in the areas of business valuation, forensic accounting, commercial disputes, economic damages, lost profits analysis, asset tracing, shareholder litigation and financial fraud investigations. He is also experienced in accounting and auditor malpractice matters, and related generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS) guidance and damages.

Previously, John was an associate in the audit practice of a national public accounting firm.

John has consulted in a broad range of industries and matters, including: analyzing companies’ books and records and accounting practices, asset tracing, payment tracing, assisting counsel with interviews and depositions of key individuals and preparing expert reports; preparing commercial damages and lost profits analyses as part of litigation and arbitration proceedings for companies in the financial services, pharmaceutical, retail, real estate, manufacturing and technology industries; and post-acquisition disputes and shareholder litigation in the consumer products and manufacturing industries.  

John received a B.B.A in finance and accounting from Villanova University and a M.B.A from the Fordham University Graduate School of Business. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Forensic Accounting and Fraud Investigations

  • Currently, John is providing analytical support to Kroll’s testifying expert retained to serve on behalf of the Trustee for the substantively consolidated SIPA Liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC to analyze the world’s largest Ponzi scheme.
  • Forensic accounting and investigative services performed also include analysis of companies’ books and records and accounting practices, asset tracing, payment tracing, assisting counsel with interviews and depositions of key individuals, and preparing expert reports of detailed findings.

Commercial Damages and Lost Profits Analyses

  • John has prepared commercial damages and lost profits analyses as part of litigation and arbitration proceedings for companies in the financial services, pharmaceutical, retail, real estate, manufacturing and technology industries related to allegations of breach of contract, lost business value and lost investment opportunities. Damages analyses performed include calculations of lost profits, disgorgement of ill-gotten gains and diminution in business value.

Post-Acquisition Disputes

  • John has worked on post-acquisition disputes and shareholder litigation in the consumer products and manufacturing industries. His experience includes buyer/seller purchase price disputes and litigation related to the calculation of clawback provisions.
