AT A GLANCE
Richard’s initial private practice spanned 15 years during which he was an auditor, forensic accountant and valuer. In this capacity he built a successful expert witness practice in Singapore. Following this he spent five years in-house predominantly as a group CFO and helped build a more than $1bn 501(c)3 charity. As a C-suite level executive, Richard has sat on numerous boards and subcommittees, developed strategy, raised millions in debt and equity finance, signed many audited accounts, built new functions, led restructuring, drafted contracts, led M&A deals and negotiated, structured and signed multimillion dollar deals.
He has also been invited to speak publicly more than 40 times at a range of conferences, events, podcasts and on radio on a variety of topics from valuation and finance to ESG and leadership.
Richard has been published in newspaper articles, trade journals, IVSC papers and a peer reviewed business valuation journal. He was also a member of the drafting committee for the CIArb Guidelines for Witness Conferencing in International Arbitration.
In 2025 Richard decided to return to private practice blending his experience of testifying in multiple court and arbitration matters, leading investigations, negotiations and board level advisory with his practical experience as a C-suite executive, board member and trustee.
In March 2025, Richard stepped down from the Standards Review Board of the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC), where, for the past six years, he has overseen the International Valuation Standards (IVS). He remains a member of the ESG (as former chair) and Technology (AI) subcommittees.
He was appointed to the Finance, Audit and Risk (FAR) board subcommittee of Applied Microbiology International in 2024 and to the PCC of All Saints Church in 2025.
Richard has been recognized for his work as a CFO, expert witness, valuer and forensic accountant by a range of professional bodies and independent organizations including Aspire, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW), Global Arbitration Review (GAR) and Global Investigations Review (GIR) and was included in several Who’s Who Legal (WWL) publications (now known as Lexology Index).
