Phil Wood

He has over 20 years of experience as an academic and security and resilience consultant. He specializes in security and organizational resilience strategy management, training and exercising across all sectors, focusing on developing excellence, knowledge and capability development leading to increased organizational performance.

Phil brings his strength in developing and implementing high performance strategies for organizations in public and private sectors to reduce business risk; and leading and managing diverse and high-performing teams in dynamic emerging strategic, business and technological environments. As an education and learning specialist he applies thought leadership and implementation of learning and collaboration capabilities; and collaboration with organizational leadership and key influencers to support strategic vision and ambitions, maximizing results in a global, interconnected context.

Prior to joining Kroll, Phil was an independent consultant, working with clients on security and resilience development, and before that he was Academic Director for Frontier Risks Group, a leading security and risk management company in the United Kingdom. Formerly, he was Professor and Head of the School of Aviation and Security at Buckinghamshire New University, working not only in his specialist academic subject capacity, but also as the University’s organizational resilience lead. This followed his 20-year career as a commissioned officer in the Royal Air Force Regiment, with various security and organizational roles, and three years as Deputy Director of training for Arc Training International, an internationally recognized corporate security training company.

Phil is a Visiting Fellow at the Changing Character of War Centre, University of Oxford, 2025-26, researching the links between UK Defense Planning and Critical Infrastructure Resilience.

Phil holds a master’s degree in security and risk management from University of Leicester. He is a Chartered Security Professional, an Honorary Member of the Business Continuity Institute, a Technical Specialist Member of the Institute of Risk Management and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
