Julie Stansfield Cabus

Prior to joining Kroll, Julie served as Deputy Assistant Secretary and Assistant Director for Training with the Diplomatic Security Service (DSS), in the Bureau of Diplomatic Security, the law enforcement and security arm of the United States Department of State.

Julie also served as the acting Deputy Assistant Secretary and Assistant Director for the Threat Investigations and Analysis practice and prior to that she was the Senior Regional Security Officer, United States Embassy, Baghdad, Iraq. Over the course of Julie’s 26-year career with DSS, she also served in Afghanistan, Australia, Algeria, Pakistan, Niger and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where she served as a senior law enforcement and security advisor to a multitude of United States ambassadors. Julie’s experience also includes management of key protective security programs such as the DSS Dignitary Protection Division and its Defensive Equipment and Armored Vehicle program.

In January 2025, Julie was featured in an episode of Jay Leno’s Garage to discuss DSS’s use of armored vehicles. Julie has served as a panelist for various Overseas Security Advisory (OSAC) events. Further, Julie has been recognized with the Presidential Rank Award from the Office of the President of the United States for her outstanding public service and stewardship of American foreign policy. She is also the recipient of many State Department awards for superior performance of her duties.

Julie received a master’s degree in military studies from the Marine Corps University, Marine Command and Staff College, Quantico, VA and a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove, PA.

Julie supports public education as a volunteer on scholarship committees and athletic booster clubs.
