Joe Stempel is Director in the Transfer Pricing practice, based in Chicago. He has over 10 years of experience as a transfer pricing consultant, advising clients on global tax planning, intangible property valuation, transfer pricing documentation, audit defense, litigation support, advanced pricing agreements (APAs) and ASC 740 compliance.

Joe’s work spans a broad range of intercompany transactions, including tangible product flows, intangible property licensing and the provision of services. In addition to transfer pricing advisory, he has significant experience performing intangible property and business valuations, primarily for tax purposes.

Joe has industry experience across life sciences, medical devices and healthcare equipment, laboratory instruments, consumer products, retail, industrial manufacturing and machinery, electronics, semiconductors and enterprise software, among others.

Joe joined Kroll (formerly Duff & Phelps) in 2021. Prior to Kroll, he spent five years in the transfer pricing practice of Deloitte Tax in Chicago. He holds a B.A. in economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign.
