Yong brings over 25 years of experience in the application of economics, finance and statistics to complex business issues. He has provided expert witness support in numerous commercial litigation matters and provided insights in disputes related to securities, market manipulation, antitrust, intellectual property, contract dispute damages and valuation of investment portfolios, complex derivatives and privately-held companies.
Yong has managed multiple high-profile complex commercial and criminal matters in diverse industries. Specifically, Yong’s antitrust work includes the analysis of factual and statistical evidence relating to relevant market definition, market share, barriers to entry, price fixing, exercise of market power and its impact on competition. He has assessed the relationship between security prices and release of financial information in connection with misrepresentation and omission claims in shareholder class action litigation. Most recently, he has also assessed values for complex derivatives and fixed income securities and analyzed the market manipulation claims for high frequency trading in options.
Prior to joining Kroll, Yong was Managing Director at StoneTurn and worked with Econ One Research and Micronomics, where he served as an economist and provided expert witness support. In addition, Yong worked as Director and Rates Strategist in sales and trading in Derivative Products Group at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), Capital Markets. Prior to SMBC, Yong worked as a quantitative analyst in fixed income research at General Electric Asset Management.
Yong is the author of several peer-reviewed journal articles and monographs, covering topics of investment strategies and pharmaceutical pricing. Yong received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago and is a CFA Charterholder.
