Mike Trivella

Mike is an international trade compliance professional with experience in Customs compliance, Foreign Trade Zones, and export controls and sanctions. He assists his clients with the identification and implementation of unique Customs strategies to improve regulatory compliance and mitigate exposure to tariffs. He has provided guidance on import and export regulatory matters to multinational corporations in industries such as technology, telecommunications, healthcare, apparel, and consumer products.

Mike adds value for his clients by guiding them through responses to U.S. Customs administrative actions, as well as managing and executing customs compliance assessments to assess existing control environments and identify compliance procedure enhancements. He is savvy in analyzing data and researching Customs and judicial precedent to identify cost saving opportunities such as Foreign Trade Zones, tariff engineering, free trade agreement eligibility, and first sale for export, and drawback. He has directed Global Trade Compliance functions in an interim capacity for large importers and provided guidance to merging companies on how best to integrate their preexisting Customs and export compliance structures.

Mike draws upon his experience as an internal auditor to provide better guidance on the testing of trade compliance controls, control environment assessments, identification of risks and deficiencies, and implementation of mitigating procedures. He started his career with a consulting firm specializing in risk management and was more recently a member of a Big 4 consultancy’s global trade practice and has 7+ years of global trade experience.
