In July 2021, whiteCryption, a leading provider of cyber security software and pioneer in mobile application shielding and cryptographic key protection, was acquired by Zimperium, the global leader in mobile security. Zimperium acquired whiteCryption from an investment group led by Intertrust, the pioneer in trusted computing and digital rights management (DRM) technology. Zimperium, which is backed by Warburg Pincus, SoftBank, Samsung, Sierra Ventures and Telstra Ventures, will continue to support current whiteCryption customers and will integrate whiteCryption’s solutions into Zimperium’s mobile application protection suite (MAPS), creating the world’s most advanced mobile application protection solution.
Technology M&A practice served as the exclusive sell-side M&A advisor to whiteCryption and its shareholders. Commenting on the transaction, Talal G. Shamoon, chief executive officer of Intertrust, added, “Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of working with several of the preeminent global investment banks, and Karan Kapoor and his team at Kroll belong in that category. Not only did they execute flawlessly and enable the transaction, but they brought a personal touch that brought us together as a team and created a long-lasting friendship—a job very well done!”
“To provide our customers with the best security and the most value, Zimperium believes that every part of a unified mobile application protection solution should be best-in-class,” said Shridhar Mittal, chief executive officer of Zimperium. “We are excited to join forces with whiteCryption, whose team has developed the most advanced mobile application code and key protection solutions available.”
“Zimperium and whiteCryption are a match made in heaven to heal a world full of increasing cyberthreats,” added Shamoon. “The combination of the two technologies will provide a powerful antidote to today’s increased threats in mobile and IoT, and we wish the combined Zimperium-whiteCryption team all the very best.”
