In June 2020, Piemonte Holding Participações S.A. ("Piemonte Holding"), based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, signed a binding offer with Oi S.A.- Em Recuperação Judicial (Judicial Recovery) for the acquisition of five data centers (Tier II and III) located in São Paulo, Brasília, Curitiba and Porto Alegre, covering over seven thousand square meters (sqm), and serving large telco companies and financial institutions.
With this acquisition, Piemonte Holding seeks to replicate and scale the successful GBT S.A. model in the data center markets. Alessandro Lombardi, CEO, Piemonte Holding and Vinícius Braga, Director, Piemonte Holding Investment, shared in a press release, “This is one of the largest and most important transactions in the history of Piemonte Holding. It represents an important milestone in our investment thesis to structure a national player in Data Centers.”
