Enabling seamless user access without compromising security is a complex challenge. Gaurav Sheth, Cynthia Yang and Sorabh Chopra are helping to change that. As part of Kroll’s recently established team dedicated to Digital Identity, their focus is on transforming fragmented administration, manual processes and siloed identity solutions into mature programs. Gaurav, Managing Director and Global Head of Digital Identity, Data and Operational Technology (OT) Security within Cyber and Data Resilience, explains:

“My role in leading the Digital Identity capability involves understanding current market trends and developing solutions that meaningfully address client challenges, with a key differentiator being the ability to leverage Kroll’s vast experience and intel in managing complex incident response events. A key element is advising business leaders on how they can mitigate risk and, at the same time, helping them to understand the potential of Digital Identity to drive revenue generation.”

Impactful end-to-end Digital Identity solutions demand strategic relationships across teams, says Cynthia, Associate Managing Director in Cyber and Data Resilience Tech Consulting:

“I lead the governance and execution of Digital Identity programs, serving as the connective point between internal delivery teams and client stakeholders. I ensure programs stay on track, risks are proactively managed and actions are driven to resolution. Most importantly, my role is grounded in partnership throughout the full life cycle—I support clients from negotiations through preparation and successful delivery.”

Enabling progression from disparate identity processes to adaptive access management is also key to Sorabh’s role as Associate Managing Director of Cyber and Data Resilience Tech Consulting:

“I spend much of my time working directly with business leaders to design Digital Identity solutions aligned to their specific needs. That includes assessing current-state capabilities and helping organizations define a clear, pragmatic roadmap to mature their identity programs.”

From Fragmented to Seamless

With more than 50 years’ experience in identity and access management (IAM), cybersecurity and transformation between them, the three are leading Kroll’s drive to transform Digital Identity for organizations. In today’s fast-moving business world, no two client engagements are the same. Cynthia outlines just one the team is currently working on:

“This is a highly complex IAM application engagement, involving the rapid onboarding of a substantial application estate as part of a broader, phased transformation. The size and ambition of the program demand strong governance, tight coordination across a sizable team and constant focus on execution. It’s among the most impactful programs I’ve worked on over the last decade.”

Secure, seamless IAM is more important than ever, but it remains tough for organizations to tackle. Pinpointing exactly the right solution for clients is what makes the role so rewarding, says Sorabh:

“Digital Identity is a constantly evolving challenge. As technology advances, it’s critical to continuously reassess controls and guardrails to ensure new risks are identified and addressed without slowing the business.”

For Gaurav, the reward lies in seeing organizations progress from fragmented identity processes to risk-aware access management:

“I really enjoy helping clients advance their identity maturity so they can benefit from it as an enabler to enhance user experience and revenue generation with measurable improvements across security, operations and compliance.”

“For me, the greatest reward is knowing that, as a team, we consistently deliver outcomes our clients genuinely value,” adds Cynthia. “That means not only meeting expectations through strong execution, but exceeding them—building trust, demonstrating reliability and ultimately becoming the client’s first choice for future engagements.”

Connected Thinking

Identity and access risks never stop evolving. Expertise from across the wider Kroll business helps the team deliver greater value to customers.

“There’s a lot of collaboration, not only within the Digital Identity team itself, but also between different capabilities across Kroll, whether that is incident response, managed detection and response, or offensive security,” explains Cynthia. “We frequently partner with other capability teams to deliver the best solutions for our clients. Our leadership actively encourages and invests in these partnerships, which creates real value across engagements.”

For Sorabh, this end-to-end expertise is one of the elements that differentiate Kroll’s Digital Identity services: “What stands out at Kroll is the depth and breadth of expertise across the organization. It allows us to bring insight and experience to Digital Identity programs that goes well beyond identity alone.”

Gaurav highlights how this technical insight allows his team to deliver the most effective solutions to clients.

“Kroll is very agile in bringing in the right expertise to meet the requirements of our customers,” he says. “Our secret sauce is our deep Digital Identity expertise combined with startup-level agility. It means our customers get the highest value and the best service.”

“We bring a strategic, enterprise view to IAM while remaining agile enough to deliver complex programs quickly and efficiently,” adds Sorabh.

Securing the Future

Traditional credential management is not only failing companies; it’s putting them at risk. As potential threats increase, there’s never been a greater need for adaptive access management.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the risk factors businesses can’t afford to ignore right now, says Gaurav:

“There’s a big shift around AI and agentic AI adoption, with a lot of potential issues relating to the governance of those AI agents. We support customers in this journey by helping them understand their adoption pain points. As they adopt AI agents, we ensure they have visibility of other risks and provide them with the right guardrails to control the authentication and authorization aspects.”

“As identity challenges evolve, particularly around nonhuman identities and agentic AI, many organizations are still taking a reactive approach to access management. We help clients put the right governance and controls in place to manage these risks in a scalable, sustainable way,” adds Sorabh.

Cynthia is quick to point out that Kroll’s Digital Identity team is perfectly placed to help organizations respond to these types of risks—and address internal expertise gaps:

“Beyond external factors, IAM challenges are often driven by limited time and resources. Many organizations don’t have a dedicated, experienced program lead focused on running large, agile integration efforts. That’s where we help—by partnering closely with client teams and bringing the structure, governance and identity expertise needed to deliver successfully.”
