Ronald Dormido is a senior director in the Kroll’s Cyber Risk practice of Kroll, a division of Duff & Phelps, based in the Reston office. Ron is a 26-year veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a Counterintelligence (CI) Special Agent. During his military career, Ron developed extensive expertise in digital forensics/ incident response (DFIR), conducting sensitive national security investigations involving nation-state cyber threats. On his last tour of duty, Ron was assigned to the Army’s Intelligence and Security Command in Hawaii, where he established the computer forensics/digital evidence recovery lab for a Hawaii-based Army CI unit. In this role, he supervised a team responsible for providing digital forensics support to U.S. Army investigations and operations within the Pacific region. His duties included serving as the primary U.S. Army Intelligence representative to the FBI Honolulu counterintelligence/counterterrorism cyber threat working group and Liaison to the U.S. Army Computer Emergency Response Team (ACERT). Additionally, Ron developed and implemented an in-house program to train U.S. Army CI personnel deploying to Iraq on tactical digital evidence collection.
After serving with the Army with distinction, Ron joined Verizon as a Senior Information Security Consultant, where he led computer forensic investigations for corporate clients worldwide, including several Fortune 100 companies, impacted by data breach and cyber incidents. He regularly advised executive-level management and corporate general counsel on industry best practices for securing sensitive payment card data and proprietary information.
Ron has attended professional training at the Interagency Training Center, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Defense Cyber Investigations Training Academy, National White Collar Crime Center, and the FBI Academy.
