Liz Perks is a managing director in the Expert Services practice, based in the London office. She has been working in the forensic accounting field since 2000 and is recognized as a “Global Elite Thought Leader” in the Arbitration expert witness category of Who’s Who Legal.
Prior to joining Kroll, Liz was a partner at Haberman Ilett, which was acquired by Kroll in 2020.
She has been involved in over 80 cases, including contractual disputes, investment treaty arbitrations, claims for breach of warranty, earnouts, expert determinations and other disputes arising out of transactions, accounting irregularities, intellectual property disputes, shareholder disputes, assessments of solvency of companies and valuations.
Liz has extensive experience in advising clients on the financial aspects and quantification of loss in commercial and contractual disputes before the English Courts and London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)and United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL)tribunals. She also has experience of valuing loss in bilateral investment treaty claims under International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes rules (ICSID)and has valued companies, projects and shares in other disputes.
Liz has been involved in all aspects of the dispute process, including giving initial pre-action advice to clients, preparing early assessment reports for litigation funders, preparing expert witness reports, drafting submissions to experts in determination processes, preparing rebuttal reports, attending meetings with other experts and preparing joint statements and testifying in hearings, including being cross-examined and participating in concurrent evidence. She has also been appointed the expert to determine completion accounts, earnouts and other disputes subject to an independent determination process, and has acted as a tribunal-appointed expert in arbitration.
Her work is international and covers a diversity of industries, including commodities trading, media, infrastructure, pharmaceutical, medical device, electricity, hotel, music, retail, insurance and technology.
Liz holds a law degree and postgraduate diploma in legal practice from Sheffield University. She is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Liz is a trustee and chair of the Finance and Audit Committee of the British institute of International and Comparative Law.
