Jan Adriaanse is a director in the Valuation Advisory Services practice in Amsterdam. He has 25 years of experience in business advisory and investigations. Prior to joining Kroll in 2023, he co-founded BFI, an independent business valuation firm based in Amsterdam that specialized in complex business valuations, financial investigations and disputes.

Prior to joining Kroll in 2023, he co-founded BFI, an independent business valuation firm based in Amsterdam that specialized in complex business valuations, financial investigations and disputes.
During his career, he has honed his skills in several key areas, including advising clients on value creation, turnaround management, dispute resolution as well as restructurings, D&O liability issues and insolvency-related investigations.
Jan is a professor of turnaround management at Leiden University. In addition, he has established himself as an international author and speaker. He is actively engaged in professional education initiatives, including the Global Insolvency Practice Course offered by INSOL International. Within this role, he serves as both a lecturer and member of the core committee.
Jan holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Nyenrode University. He also holds a law degree and a Ph.D. from Leiden University in corporate restructuring and turnaround management.

Marc Broekema and Jan Adriaanse from Kroll Amsterdam were part of the research team from the University of Groningen and Leiden University who conducted a study on evaluating the Dutch Act on court confirmation of extrajudicial restructuring plans (WHOA). The research team found that the Dutch WHOA restructuring tool works as intended by its legislators.
