Gary Gold is a director in the Expert Services practice, based in the Preston office. He is an expert electrical engineer with over 30 years of building services design and project management experience in the construction and engineering industries. He is a specialist in electrical building services and has provided expert advice, consulting and expert witness investigations and reporting on a wide range of buildings, including commercial, education, government, public-sector, residential and retail developments throughout the UK and the Middle East.
Prior to joining Kroll, Gary was an associate director at IT Group, which was acquired by Kroll in 2020.
As an electrical expert witness, Gary has performed forensic investigations and produced reports on a series of technical issues, including electrical faults, fires and explosions, personal accidents and injuries, often resulting from faulty electrical wiring, poor design and installation, inadequate lighting and poorly placed fixtures.
He has also provided expert reports on major adjudications and arbitrations, including advice for the avoidance of disputes, particularly relating to property, building services and infrastructure, for clients entering into design-and-build contracts, lease agreements, pre-acquisition reviews and dilapidations.
Gary’s extensive portfolio of design projects includes some of Scotland’s most high-profile developments, including Scottish Water’s new, ultra-sustainable headquarters office building, intelligent control centre and data center near Glasgow; Silverburn Shopping Centre cinema complex and Winter Garden extension; Glasgow University Medical Veterinary Laboratory extension; and the refurbishment of Glasgow Cathedral. Gary has also carried out electrical design on major projects in the Middle East, including the Cleveland Clinic in Abu Dhabi and the Mubarak Al Hassawi medical center in Sharjah.
Gary is an Engineering Council Incorporated Engineer and a member of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers.
