Prior to joining Kroll, Tongai was a Director in Guidehouse’s Financial Crime Risk & Compliance (FCRC) practice, where he co-led the practice’s data analytics and software development teams. He also spearheaded innovation initiatives, including the creation of a proprietary business rules engine and case management system used across numerous financial crime and fraud prevention use cases in both commercial and public sectors.
Tongai specializes in anti-money laundering (AML) compliance programs, regulations and monitoring systems, including automated transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, customer onboarding and customer risk rating. He combines regulatory insight with technical depth to help financial institutions across industries and geographies address complex compliance challenges and implement high-value solutions.
His work includes program governance assessments, gap analyses, vendor selection and implementation, transaction monitoring scenario coverage assessments, data integrity and quality reviews, system tuning and optimization, model validation and process efficiency analyses for both business-as-usual (BAU) operations and look-back remediations.
Tongai holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Economic Crime and Fraud Management from Utica College of Syracuse University.
