Stéphanie Sá Weiss

Before joining Kroll, Stéphanie was a research assistant at the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland focusing on comparative law studies between the U.S. and Brazil legal regimes. Stéphanie is a qualified lawyer and a former corporate law Associate specializing in M&A transactions and legal due diligence. She leverages her legal experience to translate regulatory complexity into actionable risk frameworks and brings a unique cross-border legal perspective to her work.

Stéphanie is a seasoned investigator specializing in integrity due diligence, reputational risk assessments, and enhanced compliance reviews. She has substantial experience conducting background investigations, source of wealth verification and political exposure analysis for clients across sectors and jurisdictions, particularly in Latin America and Lusophone Africa. Stéphanie advises on third-party risk management, anti-corruption frameworks and ESG-related concerns, leveraging intelligence and cross-border investigative capabilities to deliver actionable insights.

Her advisory work spans sensitive transactional and financing operations, where she ensures clients meet regulatory requirements while also providing bespoke support for the development of internal compliance and third-party screening processes. In one notable engagement, Stephanie provided strategic insight into the public tender regulatory environment of a South American jurisdiction, enabling a client to participate in a real estate brokerage tender. She was also retained by a multinational corporation to help design a multijurisdictional risk matrix, addressing key operational risks across its global footprint.

Stéphanie holds a Master’s in international business and economic law from Georgetown University and a Bachelor’s in law from the State University of Rio de Janeiro, during which she clerked for the Regional Electoral Court in Rio de Janeiro and interned in criminal and civil law firms. She is an active member of the New York and Rio de Janeiro state bar associations.
