Simon Onyons

With over 20 years of experience in information technology and cybersecurity, Simon brings deep expertise in financial regulation, cyber strategy and operations to help organizations strengthen their security posture and resilience.

Simon also serves as Senior Advisor to the UK National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), where he works on the NCSC Advisory Group to support national initiatives aimed at improving cyber resilience across the UK, and he will continue in this role while at Kroll.

Prior to joining Kroll, Simon was Senior Vice President and Head of EMEA Governance, Risk and Compliance within Global Information Security at Bank of America. Whilst in this role, he created and co-led the award-winning Financial Sector Cyber Collaboration Centre (FSCCC) and served as Chair of the Cyber Security Working Group of the Association for Financial Markets in Europe.

His previous role at the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) involved defining and implementing the strategy, policy and structure of the FCA’s cyber supervisory division. While at the FCA, he worked across a range of international working groups including the G7 Cyber Experts Group and helped to spearhead collaboration efforts with global regulators. In this role, he co-authored best practice cyber resilience guidance for the Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures (CPMI) and the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).

Simon also held senior roles in resilience, business continuity and recovery after beginning his career at IBM.

Simon holds a master’s degree in financial regulation from Henley Business School.

He is a volunteer member of the Nominations Committee, a sub-committee of the ISACA London Chapter Board.
