Meeta Chopra
AT A GLANCE
She brings over 14 years of experience advising multinational corporations, regulators and government entities on a wide range of compliance and forensic advisory mandates. Her expertise spans financial crime investigations, fraud risk assessments, anti-money laundering (AML) and anti-bribery compliance, corporate governance, sanctions risk and process improvement. Meeta brings deep cross-sector experience, having led engagements across financial services, energy, manufacturing, retail, insurance, real estate, aviation, utilities, healthcare and IT.
Prior to joining Kroll she has held senior roles at KPMG and Grant Thronton, where she advised clients on internal audit, process reengineering, SOX compliance, and regulatory risk matters.
Meeta has led high-impact compliance transformation projects across the GCC and Asia. She is currently supporting the Central bank of the UAE as part of the Skilled Persons Review in their national efforts to enhance the integrity of the UAE’s financial system. In this role, Meeta is advising on the development of stronger AML frameworks across multiple licensed financial institutions, identifying structural gaps and recommending institution-specific and sector-wide enhancements.
Meeta has directed numerous forensic investigations into allegations of financial misconduct, including fraud, embezzlement and operational irregularities. Her work has helped clients uncover how fraud was perpetrated, identifying breakdowns in controls and tracing financial losses. She has supported organizations in taking corrective action by preparing detailed investigative reports, advising on legal strategies and coordinating with internal stakeholders, law firms and regulators. In several cases, her findings have informed decisions on employee sanctions, contract termination and recovery of misappropriated funds.
Meeta’s effectiveness as a practitioner stem from her unique ability to integrate the perspectives of internal audit, investigations and compliance. Having worked extensively across three domains, she brings a holistic view to identifying root causes, assessing control failures and designing practical remediation measures.
She holds a master’s degree in Finance and Accounting from the University of Illinois, Chicago.
