Matthias Volk

He co-leads the German Energy and Infrastructure team as well as the German Distressed M&A team, working alongside Jan-Hendrik Roever, who serves as Head of these practices. Matthias is also part of Kroll’s German Financial Advisory Leadership team. He leverages over 13 years of experience in corporate finance and M&A advisory in assisting multinational corporations and mid-sized businesses with mergers and acquisitions, capital raising and strategic advisory services. His primary focus is on the energy and infrastructure sectors, distressed M&A and complex carve-out transactions.

Before joining Kroll, Matthias served as director at goetzpartners (renamed Fortlane Partners), a leading European M&A advisory firm headquartered in Munich. In this role, he specialized in advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, with a focus on the energy and infrastructure sectors as well as distressed M&A transactions. Prior to that, Matthias held positions at Duff & Phelps (now Kroll), Rothschild & Co and BNP Paribas.

Matthias advised prominent clients such as Siemens, Merck, Engie, Telefónica, DXC Technology and various private equity and infrastructure funds as well as renowned family offices. He successfully guided these clients through complex M&A transactions, carve-outs and strategic initiatives, delivering impactful results.

Matthias holds a Diploma in economics and management with a major in finance from the University of Ulm (equivalent to a master’s degree).

Outside of work, Matthias is passionate about fitness and enjoys hiking, gym workouts and martial arts.
