AT A GLANCE
Prior to joining Kroll, Ken served as Partner in a leading competitor’s Turnaround and Restructuring practice in Africa, where he led several high-profile mandates including strategic options reviews, independent business reviews and complex turnaround plans for corporates and state-owned enterprises. Before that, he was Director where he co-developed innovative service offerings such as a Restructuring Office for a major construction group and created market-leading tools including a Stability Index.
His notable clients include Pick n Pay, where he originated and co-led one of the largest financial restructuring mandates in Africa in recent years, Botswana Development Corporation, which he has advised on several matters, and Smile Telecoms. In South Africa, Ken co-led the restructuring of a R3billion-turnover construction group, protecting more than 20,000 livelihoods, and advised on the business rescue of South African Airways and the financial restructuring of Denel. His experience also includes mandates for Tongaat Hulett, Limpopo Iron Ore, Interserve Plc and Nortel Networks.
Ken holds a B.Sc. in management from the London School of Economics.
Outside of work, Ken is a keen traveler, having recently visited Ethiopia, Uganda and Myanmar. He enjoys reading about Sub-Saharan African history, playing squash and – above all – spending time with his wife and two young boys. He is also active in community initiatives, which has previously included volunteering at St Agnes Primary School in Cape Town and mentoring students in the UK and South Africa.
