Karen Higgins-Carter

An experienced CIO, board director and technology advisor, Karen has a well-developed track-record leading technology, innovation, data, AI and digital transformation initiatives across financial services and global professional services organizations. She specializes in helping long-established companies navigate periods of significant technology-driven change, aligning technology investment to business strategy to drive growth, improve operational performance and strengthen long-term enterprise value. 

Prior to joining Kroll, Karen served as Executive Vice President and Chief Information and Digital Officer at Gilbane Building Company and as Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Webster Financial Corporation. She has also held senior technology leadership roles at MUFG Union Bank, Bridgewater Associates, JPMorgan Chase and GE Capital, leading large-scale simplification and modernization, cybersecurity and enterprise platform initiatives in highly regulated and operationally complex environments. 

Karen is recognized for building high-performing global teams, advancing AI and data capabilities and helping organizations navigate adaptive change with discipline, transparency and a strong focus on client partnerships. She also serves as an independent director and advises boards and executive teams on technology-enabled growth, positive risk governance and long-term value creation. 

Karen currently serves on the boards of International Money Express, Inc. and Otsuka Pharmaceutical Companies (U.S.).
