Howard is a forensic accountant and has led complex cross-border fraud investigations for corporates, financial institutions and government bodies across the EMEA region. He specializes in working with large complex data sets and using data analytics to identify wrongdoing, trace funds, identify assets and support recovery actions. He designs ABC and AML/CFT and fraud risk assessments and compliance reviews for multinational corporations and financial institutions.
He also has broad experience working with regulators, Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs), prosecuting bodies and financial institutions to conduct financial investigations and provide anti-money laundering (AML)/countering the financing of terrorism (CFT) advisory services. In recent years, Howard has provided technical support, risk assessments and controls and process reviews relating to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) standards and the mutual evaluation process.
Further, Howard has extensive experience conducting forensic audits and forensic investigations relating to corruption and the associated money laundering. On the proactive side, Howard regularly conducts anti-bribery and corruption (ABC) compliance reviews and risk assessments.
Howard has led bank fraud and money laundering investigations for numerous government agencies across EMEA, including Cyprus, Latvia, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands and Ukraine. He has extensive experience working with international financial institutions and donor agencies to conduct forensic audits into allegations of government corruption. He works with regulators and law enforcement agencies across the globe, including the U.S. Department of Justice, the SEC, FinCEN and the FBI in the U.S. and the FCA, Serious Fraud Office (SFO) and National Crime Agency (NCA) in the UK.
Howard received a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in history from the University of Hull. He is also a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
