Gregor Böttcher

Prior to joining Kroll, Gregor served as Associate Director in a leading advisory firm’s Restructuring and Performance Improvement Team in South Africa, advising corporates across multiple industries on operational turnarounds, balance sheet restructurings, turnaround plans and liquidity management.

Before that, he was Senior Manager at a leading transaction advisory services restructuring practice in Frankfurt, Germany, where he advised on distressed M&A mandates., refinancing processes and restructuring opinions for large industrial clients. Earlier in his career, Gregor worked as a freelance restructuring adviser in Germany, providing operational turnaround and stakeholder management support to Chief Restructuring Officers in consumer products and apparel sectors.

His notable experience includes advising a major listed South African retailer, on its balance sheet restructuring, resulting in a significantly recapitalized business positioned to execute its turnaround strategy and support future growth. He also supported a global engineering and contracting group in developing a deleveraging plan acceptable to lenders, closely monitoring liquidity and operational risks. In Europe, Gregor advised one of the continent’s largest lead and zinc recycling players on refinancing and negotiations with the EU antitrust commission and supported insolvency administrators in distressed M&A mandates for leading manufacturers in the solar mounting systems and specialty paper industries.

Gregor serves as Chairman of the Western Cape Regional Board and as a National Board Member of SARIPA, the Southern African Restructuring and Insolvency Practitioners Association. He regularly contributes to industry discussions and professional forums on restructuring and turnaround matters. He was recognized with distinction in the SARIPA Program in Insolvency Law and Practice at the University of Pretoria and graduated with merit from the INSOL International Program in South African Business Rescue.
