AT A GLANCE
Ben advises fund boards, sponsors, investors and other stakeholders on managed wind downs, orderly asset realisations, fund liquidations, GP and service provider transitions, and enhanced governance arrangements. His work typically involves multi jurisdictional portfolios, complex stakeholder environments and heightened execution risk, where clear decision making, independence and disciplined process are essential to preserving value and delivering liquidity. He has led and co led large fund wind downs and liquidations, including mandates involving trade finance and private credit strategies with assets ranging from hundreds of millions to over a billion dollars.
Prior to joining Kroll, Ben was a Director in Standard Chartered Bank’s Stressed Assets Group, where he managed a portfolio of distressed exposures with gross balances exceeding USD 600 million. Earlier in his career, he held credit, risk and structuring roles across Standard Bank and Standard Chartered Bank, working on complex financings and workouts in emerging markets. This background informs a pragmatic, asset level understanding of risk, enforcement dynamics and value maximisation - skills he applies at fund and portfolio level.
Ben has extensive experience across Europe and Africa, supporting stakeholders through complex cross border situations involving diverse investor groups, including institutional investors and development finance institutions. He is recognised for his rigorous approach to governance, transparency and execution discipline, particularly in sensitive transitions and realisation programmes.
Ben holds a first class BSc (Hons.) in Mathematics from the University of Birmingham, including continental study in France. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a member of both the CFA Institute and INSOL International’s Financiers’ Group, where he also contributes to the organisation’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) leadership initiatives. Ben is a proficient French speaker.
