With more than 15 years of experience in banking and financial advisory, Alexander is recognized for his expertise in banking resolution, wind-downs, non-performing loans, financial sector transactions and restructuring. His work sits at the intersection of regulatory transformation, balance sheet optimization and special situations advisory, supporting clients through highly sensitive and complex scenarios.
Alexander has advised on some of the most significant restructuring and resolution initiatives in the European banking sector over the past decade. He works extensively with banks, private equity investors, regulators and resolution authorities on cross-border engagements involving restructuring, asset separation, resolution readiness and transaction execution.
A core focus of his team is advising on the operationalization of banking resolution frameworks under the Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive (BRRD), including the development of resolution execution strategies, wind-down frameworks and asset separation solutions for systemically relevant and non-core banking businesses.
His experience includes advising on:
- Strategic solvent and distressed wind-downs and restructuring programs for banking institutions
- Acquisitions of financial institutions through financial and credit due diligence engagements
- Sales of performing and non-performing loan portfolios across real estate, shipping, aviation, renewable energy and corporate asset classes
- Portfolio carve-outs, servicing strategies and non-core asset separation initiatives
- Resolution planning, execution readiness and operational frameworks for resolution authorities
- Asset quality reviews and regulatory credit review programs
Prior to joining Kroll, Alexander held senior advisory roles within the Financial Services Deal Advisory practices at KPMG and EY. Earlier in his career, he worked in banking with BayernLB, focusing on capital markets and asset-liability management.
Alexander holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Mergers & Acquisitions, a Bachelor of Arts in Banking, and additional professional banking and instructor qualifications (IHK).
