Albert “Al” Murray III is an Associate Managing Director in the Cyber and Data Resilience business, based in Washington DC.

Al leverages over 20 years of FBI investigative experience to advance partnerships and integration between Kroll’s investigative and risk advisory teams.

Prior to joining Kroll, Al served as Deputy Assistant Director in the FBI’s Operational Technology Division where he led over 800 computer scientists, engineers and agents responsible for the FBI’s technical intelligence collection. Al has over 18 years of experience investigating cybercrime as an FBI case agent, squad supervisor and Assistant Special Agent in Charge.

As a case agent, Al investigated computer intrusion cases, intellectual property rights violations and internet fraud investigations. He was awarded the 2010 FBI Director's Award for Outstanding Cyber Investigation for his disruption of an international cyber-criminal enterprise targeting a leading global bank.

In his role as an FBI cyber squad supervisor, Al led a squad of agents responsible for investigating financially motivated computer intrusions. As a Washington Field Office Assistant Special Agent in Charge, Al led the Cyber Task Force, which was responsible for all nation state and criminal computer intrusions in DC and Northern Virgina, as well as leading Washington Field Office’s digital forensics program.

Al was featured as an expert on a 2013 episode of the documentary series, American Greed.

Prior to joining the FBI, Al worked as a consultant for one of the Big Four accounting firms where he designed and managed the claims management system for the September 11 Victim's Compensation Fund as well as the claims management system for the forensic accounting investigation of Swiss Banks related to the dormant accounts of victims of Nazi persecution.

Al holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Duke University.
