London – Kroll, the leading independent provider of global financial and risk advisory solutions, is pleased to announce the successful sale of Kirkham Grammar School (“School”) and its site to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Sanastha (MMYS), a leading international education group with schools and educational institutions across Australia, the United States, India and Europe. The transaction secures the future of one of the country's oldest independent schools and provides a platform for long-term investment and development.
The sale follows a period of financial challenge for the School and an extensive process undertaken by the Joint Administrators from Kroll to identify the best available outcome for the School, its staff, pupils, parents and wider stakeholders. The acquisition ensures the continuation of educational provision and preserves the School's long-standing educational heritage. The new owners have committed to substantial investment in the School's facilities, educational provision, boarding offering and wider pupil experience, while maintaining the values and traditions that have defined Kirkham Grammar School for generations.

MMYS is recognized internationally for its commitment to educational excellence and innovation and has outlined plans to position Kirkham Grammar School as the flagship school within its growing UK educational portfolio. The acquisition is expected to create new opportunities for international collaboration, enhanced learning experiences and investment in the School's future development.
Philip Dakin, Managing Director, Restructuring at Kroll, says, "Over recent years, independent schools across the UK have faced a series of significant financial and operational challenges. The introduction of VAT on school fees, rising operating costs, increasing employment-related expenses and wider economic pressures on families have created an increasingly difficult environment for many independent schools, particularly those seeking to preserve high-quality educational and pastoral provision while remaining accessible to their communities.”
"This transaction safeguards the continuity of education for pupils, provides reassurance and opportunities for staff and preserves an institution that has served generations of families for almost five centuries. The School is now well positioned to thrive under its new ownership, benefitting from both significant investment and enhanced international connections while retaining the values and heritage that make Kirkham Grammar School so special."
The Joint Administrators from Kroll would like to thank staff, parents, pupils, governors, lenders, professional advisers and the wider school community for their support and commitment throughout the process.
