How Are UK Trade Negotiations Impacting the Deal Market Roundtable and Reception
February 27, 2020 | (Online Event)

On December 13, 2019, Boris Johnson's Conservative party won the UK General Election. With a comfortable majority in the House of Commons, this paved the way for the UK to leave the European Union (EU) on January 31, 2020. While the divorce terms have been agreed on (subject to final approval by the House of Lords), future trading agreements with the EU and beyond are up for grabs. Currently, the UK Government has only agreed on 20 “continuity” deals covering 50 countries, accounting for only 8% of total UK trade. The EU accounts for 49% of all UK trade and the U.S. a further 18%*, but on what will be our trading terms?
Duff & Phelps and Kroll, a division of Duff & Phelps, invite you to join us for an informative, interactive discussion on what the election outcome really means for the UK deal market.
Topics include:
- What was set out in the Conservative's 100-day plan and how are they progressing against it?
- What do we know about the status of future trade agreements, in particular with the EU and U.S.?
- What do we know about the future of the UK tax regime?
- What impact will this have on the UK deal market?
We look forward to hosting you for what will be a lively and thought-provoking discussion.
Chatham House rules will apply.
