The Kroll Cost of Capital Navigator is an online subscription-based tool that guides financial analysts through the process of estimating cost of capital, a key component to any valuation analysis.
What Are the Five Cost of Capital Navigator Modules?
- U.S. Cost of Capital Module: Estimate U.S. cost of capital with size premia, equity risk premia, betas and more.
- U.S. Industry Benchmarking Module: Access U.S. industry-level cost of capital inputs and benchmark data.
- International Cost of Capital Module: Quantify global country risk when estimating cost of capital.
- International Industry Benchmarking Module: Provides global industry-level inputs needed to estimate cost of equity capital, weighted average cost of capital (WACC), and industry-level benchmarks.
- Company-Level Beta Module: Provides a simple tool and dataset that enables users to calculate levered, unlevered and relevered company-level betas.
You can subscribe to any or all three Cost of Capital Navigator modules, each offering three annual subscription levels: Basic, Pro and Enterprise.
What Are the Differences in the Subscription Levels?
All modules include a Basic, Pro and Enterprise subscription that have the following features:
- Basic provides a one-year license to access the two most recent data years. Currently, the two most recent data years are the 2021 data year (with data through December 31, 2020), and the 2022 data year (with data through December 31, 2021).
- Pro provides a one-year license to access all available data years. Enterprise subscriptions are for 16 or more users, which includes all data years.
- Enterprise offers flexible pricing, based upon the number of licenses needed as well as discounted pricing for adding additional modules.

Is There a Discount Offered on Subscriptions?
Yes, we offer volume discount on license fees. In other words, for each additional licensed user added to your subscription, the price per user decreases. We also offer bundled product subscriptions. You can combine multiple modules of the Cost of Capital Navigator and ensure savings. Visit our online stores to learn more.
Do You Offer Free Trials?
Yes. We offer a 14-day free trial subscription to each of our modules in the Cost of Capital Navigator. The trial subscription contains limited data: users are only able to select valuation dates from March 31, 2016 through June 30, 2016. At the end of 14 days, the trial will automatically get cancelled, and you will not be charged for any subscription.
What Are Some Payment Options?
You can pay for your subscription online though our e-commerce partner. Payment options include credit card and depending on your geographical location may also include PayPal and Amazon Pay. As per our terms and conditions, access to the Cost of Capital Navigator will be granted upon receipt of payment.

How Many Licenses Do I Need?
You can estimate the number of licenses needed as follows:
- How many of your company’s offices have staff completing valuations?
- How many of your staff members analyze the cost of capital in doing valuations?
The greater of the answers to A and B are the recommended number of licenses to purchase. For example, a subscription for a single license is intended for an individual/sole proprietor providing valuation services. Firms with many project teams and analysts that need access to the data would choose a multi-license subscription.
Each subscriber gets a license to access the Cost of Capital Navigator and its data for one year from the date of purchase.
How Many People Can Use the Cost of Capital Navigator With a Single License, Either Directly With a Login or Indirectly by Asking a Colleague for Material Who Has a Login?
The data from the Cost of Capital Navigator can be used by only by the person who is assigned the license. It cannot be used or accessed by more than the number of licensed users. Please refer to the clause on “Benefitting Group” in the terms of use.
Where Can I Access U.S. Size Premia by Deciles?
You can access U.S. size premia by deciles (i.e., the CRSP Deciles Size Study) by subscribing to the U.S. Cost of Capital Module.
Are Previously Published Valuation Handbooks Still Available?
Three of the four previously published Valuation Handbooks have been transitioned into the Cost of Capital Navigator. All the data, information, and content from these books are available exclusively in the Cost of Capital Navigator.
- The U.S. Cost of Capital Module replaces the previously published Valuation Handbook – U.S. Guide to Cost of Capital.
- The U.S. Industry Benchmarking Module replace the previously published Valuation Handbook – U.S. Industry Cost of Capital.
- The International Cost of Capital Module replaces the previously published Valuation Handbook – International Guide to Cost of Capital.
- The International Industry Benchmarking Module replaces the previously published Valuation Handbook – International Industry Cost of Capital.
Is the Stocks, Bonds, Bills, and Inflation® (SBBI®) Yearbook Available?
Yes, you can purchase it by visiting our online store. The SBBI® Yearbook includes U.S. capital markets performance statistics and is a thinking person’s guide to using historical data to understand the financial markets and make decisions. This book does not contain data on size premia, betas, industry risk premia, etc.
