Stacking the Deck: How the Government Competes With Private Industry - Rosemary Fanelli published on Forbes.com

Rosemary Fanelli, Managing Director in the Financial Services Compliance and Regulation practice at Duff & Phelps, published her most recent contribution to her Forbes.com blog with “Stacking the Deck: How the Government Competes with Private Industry”

Rosemary’s article explores how and if the government can compete with the private sector in a variety of ways “What if the government could offer services that directly compete with the private sector, subsidize the cost of the services with tax payer dollars, and mandate public participation? And all those pesky regulations that take time and cost money?  What if the government could just adopt a resolution exempting itself… But that’s not all – the government is now entering the retirement plan industry – but not on just any terms - only if it can exempt itself from regulatory oversight.”
