Michael Vega Joins Kroll’s Cyber Risk Practice

Brings Broad Industry and Government Experience

New York – Kroll, a division of Duff & Phelps, the global leader in risk mitigation, investigations, compliance, cyber resilience, security and incident response solutions, today announced that Michael Vega has joined the firm as an associate managing director in the Cyber Risk practice, based in Secaucus. Vega has served for nearly 20 years in corporate and government sectors and brings significant cyber security experience to his new role. His expertise spans complex cyber investigations and remediation, digital forensics and research, and strategic planning for greater enterprise cyber resiliency.

Prior to joining Kroll, Vega served as executive director at JPMorgan Chase and Co., where he was the global head of Digital Forensics and Analytic Services for the firm. While at JPMorgan, Vega spearheaded strategic planning for the global team and contributed to the growth of the firm’s cyber security program. His team was responsible for numerous missions, including triage, forensics, investigations and litigation support related to data loss events and network intrusions; digital research for emerging threats and technology; and root cause analysis and recommendations to close gaps.

“Michael has not only terrific technical acumen, but also a deep understanding of how cyber risk issues permeate and affect the overall enterprise,” said Ben Demonte, Managing Director and North America Cyber Risk practice leader. “Michael’s global perspective, collaborative approach and ability to establish strategic relationships will serve our clients well with their cyber and information assurance challenges.”

Vega transitioned to the corporate sector after serving for 11 years in senior-level cyber security-related roles with the U.S. government and military. His representative accomplishments during this time included establishing the cybercrime program for the U.S. Department of Defense’s Finance and Accounting Service and conducting complex criminal investigations as a special agent in the Computer Crime Investigative Unit at the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command (CID). Vega also served as the Procurement Fraud Special Agent in the European Special Investigations and Fraud Field Office at CID; earlier in his career, he conducted terrorism investigations against coalition forces in Iraq as a special agent in the CID’s 286th Military Police Detachment.
