Kroll Accelerates Growth within the Compliance Market with Appointment of Three Key Senior Hires

Kroll, the global leader in risk mitigation and response solutions, today announced the appointment of three senior hires to accelerate growth within the compliance market: Kevin Braine joins the firm as Managing Director, Head of EMEA; Steven Bock was appointed Vice President, Operations and Process Excellence; and John Arvanitis has joined as Associate Managing Director for the Compliance Practice.

Mr. Braine, who will be based in London, steps into a leadership role for the business as Head of EMEA for the Compliance Practice, responsible for driving forward the expansion of Kroll’s Compliance services throughout the region. He has extensive experience assisting clients in areas such as pre-transaction due diligence, hostile M&A support activities, third party agent screening, and market and competitor intelligence gathering.

“Kevin has a knowledge of the EMEA market that is second to none,” says Lee Kirschbaum, Senior Vice President and Leader of Kroll’s Compliance business. “He has both seen and driven the evolution of the compliance due diligence market across the region and will no doubt be a significant contributor to the growth of our business on a global basis.”

Mr. Braine’s most recent roles include Director, Business Intelligence Services at Deloitte LLP in London and Director of Corporate Investigations for Western Europe for Control Risks. Mr. Braine was also with the Risk Advisory Group, where he was responsible for setting up the company’s Paris office and driving new business development in France.

Mr. Bock joins as Vice President, Operations and Process Excellence, leading overall due diligence process improvement and operations automation initiatives across the practice, with a focus on providing the highest quality products and services for Kroll’s clients. Based in New York City, he joins Kroll after a successful 17-year career at Goldman Sachs, where he held a variety of top roles spanning the disciplines of business intelligence, anti-money laundering compliance, process control and crisis management.

Mr. Kirschbaum says Mr. Bock is a transformational hire. “Steven’s unique blend of AML and business intelligence operations and process experience will allow us to constantly improve our compliance due diligence services, ultimately enabling our clients to focus on what matters to them most.”

During his time at Goldman Sachs, Mr. Bock held positions including Vice President and Business Continuity Coordinator, Vice President and Crisis Management Coordinator, and Vice President for Global Compliance, in which he was tasked with building the firm’s global anti-money laundering (AML) program. Prior to that, he was Vice President for the Business Intelligence Group, where he developed the firm’s AML risk guidelines and overall process for regulatory reporting.

Mr. Arvanitis comes to Kroll’s Compliance business after a distinguished 27-year career with the U.S. Justice Department, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Based in Boston, he is advising clients on anti-money laundering matters and other aspects of compliance programs. He has significant experience across a broad range of compliance-related programs, including anti-money laundering, “know your customer,” global AML processes, and program and policy formation. Most recently, he served as Special Agent in Charge of the New England Field Division as a Senior Executive Service member. In his time with the DEA, Mr. Arvanitis developed and led numerous initiatives focusing on disrupting and dismantling transnational organized crime syndicates, with an emphasis on their money laundering and other finance-related activities.

“I am excited to welcome John to our team. John has an excellent anti-money laundering and compliance background and will further enhance our ability to serve our clients across a broad spectrum of compliance engagements,” says Mr. Kirschbaum. “Given John’s regulatory experience, we are confident that he will be an invaluable resource for our clients.”

“These appointments represent Kroll’s ongoing commitment to excellence in the Compliance market,” says Mr. Kirschbaum. “I am delighted to welcome Kevin, Steven and John to Kroll, and I look forward to working with them as we continue to build Kroll’s best-in-class Compliance capabilities.”
