Reshmi Khurana Talks About Foreign Investor Concerns During Restructuring Process

Foreign investors may feel disadvantaged compared to local stakeholders in attempting to recover investments from a distressed asset during the restructuring process. In the recent case involving distressed Indonesia textile firm PT Delta Merlin Dunia Tekstil, many investors globally are monitoring the case in Indonesia closely as they are keen to find out how foreign creditors are likely to be treated in such situations.

"Foreign creditors may have significant concerns over Indonesian courts," said Reshmi Khurana, Managing Director and Head of Southeast Asia in the Business Intelligence and Investigations practice of Kroll, a division of Duff & Phelps. "The challenge for foreign investors is that transparency of information flow may be limited and they can be disadvantaged compared to local stakeholders."
