Demian Koester, Director in Duff & Phelps Transaction Advisory Services practice in Germany, was recently featured in FINANCE Magazin, one of Germany’s premier financial and business publications, discussing his decision to return to advisory from a corporate M&A role. After four years of leading M&A at German food wholesaler METRO, Demian and his colleague Klaus-Martin Haussmann joined Duff & Phelps in 2020 to expand the German Transaction Advisory Services practice.
“Duff & Phelps offered me and my colleague Klaus-Martin Haussmann the chance to build something from the ground up. That was an attractive prospect,” Demian said.
In particular, it is the fast pace and variety of challenges that drew him back to advisory work. According to Demian, working in and therefore knowing the corporate side of M&A can greatly benefit advisory work through both broad and in-depth process know-how, as well as increased awareness of different corporate stakeholders’ needs.
