Andreas Stoecklin, Managing Director and Germany Country Leader was featured in WirtschaftsWoche, one of Germany’s top economic publications. In the article, several M&A and private equity experts discuss the value of M&A during a crisis, along with the necessary framework to make such a transaction succeed in a turbulent market.
Andreas comments that the pandemic offers some advantages for the process, such as falling transaction prices and a lower number of competitors, but not everyone manages to capitalize on them. In particular, turnaround investors and high-liquidity enterprises often manage to benefit, but strategic deliberations, such as preserving supply chains from breaking down, can also be important. He adds that it should be kept in mind that M&A can serve as an important – and often central – building block of a company’s growth strategy during and after the crisis, by granting it access to new important markets or key technologies.
