Violet Ho, Senior Managing Director and Head of Greater China in the Business Intelligence and Investigations practice of Kroll, a division of Duff & Phelps, shared insights form the 11th edition of the Global Fraud and Risk Report 2019/20 which reported the high dependence on brand ambassadors or influencers among China businesses. However, many businesses have not done enough due diligence checks on these brand ambassadors or influencers prior to the engagement. This could lead to potential damage to the company’s reputation if the brand ambassador’s actions do not meet mainstream moral code or the brand ambassador’s personal political point of view becomes controversial.
Violet also discussed other areas where social media could have adverse impact on Chinese businesses if policies are not set in place.
