A Fraud-Fighting Primer From Kroll’s Jim Faulkner

Jim Faulkner, Managing Director and head of Kroll's Miami office, recently addressed the members-only round-table discussion hosted by WorldCity CEO Club about how multinational companies can combat challenges like corruption, bribery, and theft. Managing the intricacies of compliance with the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) was also top of mind for many attendees.

Jim gave members his perspective on topics such as the goal of investigations (“… not to dig up dirt, but to find out the truth …”), the importance of due diligence, information security (“Be aware of where information resides and who can access it”), and how technology and human intelligence work together to arrive at the facts of a situation. Jim also noted that when it comes to compliance, top executives need to set the tone, adding “it is crucial to have in place a robust and workable reporting process.”
