On June 10, 2025, Oxford Instruments plc, a leading provider of high technology products and services to industry and scientific research communities, announced that it had entered into a binding agreement to sell its quantum-focused business Oxford Instruments NanoScience ("NanoScience") to Quantum Design, International Inc. for a £60million total cash consideration, including up to £3million of deferred consideration linked to future revenues from quantum scaling systems.
Our Investment Banking practice advised Oxford Instruments plc in connection with this transaction whilst our Transaction Advisory Services practice provided financial due diligence and operations and tech carve-out advice.
“Thanks to Paul and the Kroll team for making this transaction a success. Having the experience and expertise of the financial and operations due diligence teams alongside M&A made the challenging carve-out issues more manageable and contributed significantly to the success of the project.”
Rob Fulford, Programmes Director, Oxford Instruments
“It has been a pleasure to act for Oxford Instruments again on such a strategically important divestment. With its heritage and advanced technology in advanced scientific instrumentation this was always going to be of interest to leading players in the wider scientific and cryogenic industries. I am pleased we have found a good home for the Nanoscience business with Quantum Design.”
Paul Teuten, Managing Director, Kroll Investment Banking
