Case Study – High-Net-Worth and High-Risk Environment Executive Protection 

The CEO of a long-term client was attending a family wedding in Medellin, Colombia, with several members of their immediate family. The family had little experience in Colombia and no exposure to the threat environment, specifically in Medellin, for a highly recognizable high-net-worth individual. To better inform the CEO and their family, Kroll conducted an extensive background and threat briefing, highlighted known and reasonably perceivable threats/vulnerabilities and helped devise a plan for mitigation. 

The resort/hotel booked by the bride and groom was luxurious and picturesque but came with significant safety and security vulnerabilities that would have been costly to mitigate. Furthermore, the required mitigation would have been burdensome and obtrusive for such an event, so the client decided the risks outweighed the need to stay at the designated resort. Kroll worked with the CEO’s team to identify a resort nearby with a far better security footprint. This significantly reduced the executive protection resources needed to safeguard the CEO and their family and the overall cost of the engagement while maintaining proper levels of protection.
