Rob Phillips is an associate managing director in the Cyber Risk practice of Kroll, a division of Duff & Phelps, based in Singapore. He has over 22 years of professional experience and provides expertise and support in areas such as cyber forensics and incident response, computer forensic investigations and e-discovery. He is an accomplished technical expert and computer forensic investigator and has extensive multinational experience in both Europe and the Asia Pacific regions.

Rob joined Kroll in January 2020 with the acquisition of RP Digital Security, a Singapore-headquartered firm specialized in computer forensics, digital security and eDiscovery services, which he founded. During his leadership at RP Digital Security, Rob built out the firm’s forensic lab and developed custom forensic tools and technology to assist clients with challenges of encryption, constantly changing hardware and large volumes of email data.

Rob’s case experience includes multi-jurisdiction investigations throughout Asia and globally, cyber and breach response investigations and e-discovery cases for clients from a variety of industries, including law firms and legal service providers, large financial institutions, banking and insurance, aerospace, manufacturing, shipping, pharmaceutical and healthcare. Notable cases include incident response and eDiscovery work for a ransomware attack of a large Singapore manufacturing company; incident response in relation to a cyberattack of a Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) regulated financial company; incident response and systems triage for a Hong Kong-based food and beverage company that suffered a ransomware attack. 

In addition to cyber-related work, Rob is experienced with fraud and white-collar crime investigations, regulatory investigations including those related to the FCPA and SEC, and bribery act investigations. His assignments include planning, preparing and executing civil search and seizure orders (Anton Piller orders) for cases ranging geographically from Singapore and Hong Kong to Indonesia, Pakistan, Mongolia and Japan.

Rob has numerous professional certifications, some of which include Carbon Black CB Defense Certified (CBD) 2019; Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) 2019; EC Council Certified Incident Handler (ECIH) 2019; EC Council Certified Threat Intelligence Analyst (CTIA) 2019; NICF CISA – Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA) 2018; Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI) 2017; ISO 27001 (Information Security) Lead Auditor, 2016; and Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), 2004 and 2017. 

Rob received an HNC in computing from Swansea Metropolitan University in Wales, UK
