Kroll Names Sam Jacobs Associate Managing Director Cyber Risk

Kroll, a division of Duff & Phelps, a global leader in risk mitigation, investigations, compliance, cyber resilience, security and incident response solutions, today announced that Samuel (Sam) Jacobs has joined the firm as Associate Managing Director in the Cyber Risk practice, based in Washington, D.C. Over the course of a career spanning nearly two decades, Jacobs has developed deep expertise in assessing and mitigating risks to national security equities arising from foreign investment. Jacobs will focus this experience on serving as the Cyber Risk subject matter expert for the firm’s Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) practice.

Jacobs joins Kroll from Centra Technology, where he was Principal Analyst and Director for Transactional Risk. In this role, he primarily supported Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) clients handling matters before CFIUS. In addition to managing multiple teams of analysts, Sam worked closely with government leaders to create or enhance foundational policies and processes. His contributions included redesigning the interagency process for evaluating national security concerns associated with Federal Communications Commission license applications (aka Team Telecom); representing customer interests during multi-party negotiation of agreements with U.S. and foreign companies; and conducting site visits to assess and monitor compliance with national security agreements.

Previously, Jacobs was an associate at Booz Allen Hamilton in the Analytics practice. He served in a number of roles, including strategic planning assistant for the DoD Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Directorate and was the client’s liaison with the Office of the Secretary of Defense and Headquarters Marine Corps. During this time, Jacobs was the lead author on a ground-breaking DoD Non-Lethal Weapon Capabilities Roadmap.
