Kroll Expands Global Data Breach Notification, Identity Fraud Remediation and Consumer Monitoring Support in Canada

Toronto – Kroll, a division of Duff & Phelps, a global leader in risk mitigation, investigations, compliance, cyber resilience, security and incident response solutions, today announced the expansion of data breach services, including notification, call center, identity monitoring, identity theft consultation and assisted restoration to Canadian organizations responding to data breaches.

The addition of comprehensive breach response services to the Canadian market extends Kroll’s global services in North America and enables affected organizations to offer comprehensive support and guidance to Canada’s 37 million consumers.

"Any organization can be a target for cybercriminals – healthcare providers, retailers, financial institutions – no industry is immune,” said Brian Lapidus, Global Practice Leader for Kroll’s Identity Theft and Breach Notification practice. “Moreover, our data shows that breached companies increasingly have an international customer base, and we strive to provide a consistent level of monitoring and identity theft support, regardless of the affected individual’s home country. By expanding to Canada, we not only offer end-to-end breach response services to companies based in Canada, we reaffirm our commitment to leading the way in global breach services for multinational organizations.”

Joel Bowers, Managing Director in the Toronto Cyber Risk practice, commented, “In an era where data breaches are increasingly common, it is important for our clients to have access to the highest quality breach response services in case they discover that they have been breached. The ability to provide these services to our clients in Canada is invaluable and brings added strength to our already robust suite of services.”

Mandatory reporting laws and increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks are a taking a toll on Canadian businesses. From November 1, 2018 through November 1, 2019, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada received six times more reported breaches than the same period one year earlier. Well over 28 million Canadians and 29% of companies surveyed for Kroll’s Global Fraud and Risk Report 2019/2020 were affected by some level of customer data theft in the last year.

Kroll’s platform can support breached organizations of all sizes by providing in-country notification and seamless enrollment in dark web identity monitoring services to affected consumers. To meet the needs of the Canadian market, Kroll’s member portal, customer support contact center and alert notifications are available in English and French Canadian. Bilingual fraud specialists, who assist with cases of identity theft, are based in Kroll’s Toronto office.
