Simon Ashenden Shares His Views on Remote Working from a Business Continuity Perspective

The COVID-19 outbreak has forced companies to put employees on flexible work arrangements and this has changed people’s mindsets on how or where work is conducted.

Simon Ashenden, Associate Managing Director in the Security Risk Management practice of Kroll, a division of Duff & Phelps, recently shared his views in The Business Times on how the current crisis has led to a mindset shift.

“The current COVID-19 crisis and the subsequent government social distancing requirements have prompted companies to relook at the concept of flexible work arrangements and what it means to build a responsible workforce. In uncertain times such as these, we have seen firms adopt innovative and smarter ways of working productively to keep conversations going. An organization's business continuity plan needs to fully address these evolving requirements, while at the same time ensuring sensitive company data is kept secure. Under current circumstances, organizations are advised not to neglect the unseen cyber risks as employees are now away from the secure network built in the workplace environment. Because of remote work, employees could be exposing vulnerabilities to threat actors. Large-scale work-from-home arrangements can be successful if employees are well equipped with knowledge to be cyber smart.”
