Kroll identifies root causes of inventory shrinkage by 40%
Kroll worked with a well known £12 billion grocery and general merchandise retailer to identify root causes of inventory shrinkage.
Kroll identified significant areas of opportunity and assisted the company in organizing an integrated loss prevention program that reduced shrinkage by 40%.
Areas of opportunity included awareness programs, employee screening, financial reporting and accountability, exception reporting and data mining, as well as organizational enhancements and training of the loss prevention and internal audit departments.
Revenue assurance review leads to savings for telecoms provider
Kroll was engaged to conduct a review of operations for a cellular telephone and wireless data provider to help develop a world-class revenue assurance function.
We reviewed the entire operation and identified significant areas of opportunity in the reconciliation of network activity including mediation and billing practices, carrier interconnect expense management, billing and production support controls, subscription fraud detection and retail loss prevention.
We identified several fraudulent commission schemes that resulted in the company paying higher commissions to certain dealers and agents than were deserved. The savings from those schemes alone more than paid for the study.
Kroll finds missing customer data for specialty technology company
Kroll was called into investigate when a specialty technology company realized that the data of one of its clients, which contained personal information of nearly a million people, was missing. Within four hours Kroll mobilized a team of 14 investigators to search more than 10,000 desks, cabinets and locked spaces over a weekend in the company’s headquarters to ascertain whether the data was misplaced or actually removed from the building.
Through employee interviews, Kroll was able to narrow the time frame of loss to a four-day window from more than a possible two-month window. The following day, an investigation ensued and an anonymous hotline and reward was established.
Kroll brought in experts from its Identity Theft Services group to work with General Counsel in meeting regulatory and consumer notification laws in an accurate and expeditious manner. The case was presented to the FBI and because of the manner in which it was prepared and investigated by Kroll, they were willing to assign several agents from their identity theft squad to investigate the matter within four days of the discovery of the theft.
