Kroll helps uncover and provide evidence in Intellectual property case
An US manufacturer retained Kroll to investigate the source of counterfeit electrical goods sold in its name in east Africa and to advise on how the manufacturer could prevent it. Kroll confirmed that the counterfeit goods were being sold through a business owned by a relative of the head of state. The client believed that official interdiction would have exposed the client’s legitimate agent to danger, therefore Kroll conducted two discreet investigations into the source of the counterfeit goods across Kenya and east Asia.
Kroll’s local investigation established that the most recent shipment of counterfeit goods had been imported from east Asia via the Middle East and found the names of the two companies in Asia which had manufactured them. A further investigation locally in Asia helped the client to corroborate the evidence and report the matter to the Asian authorities.
