James Cesarano serves as Vice President, Ethics & Compliance for Kroll. James is responsible for the implementation and management of Kroll’s compliance program consistent with the company’s commitment to maintaining an ethical culture and a high standard of compliance. He also serves as a voting member of Kroll’s Risk Committee.
Prior to joining Kroll in May 2014, James served as Vice President, Corporate Investigations at Morgan Stanley. In this role, James managed a team which was responsible for conducting all reputational due diligence for the firm in the Americas region. Specifically, he was responsible for due diligence requests pertaining to the Institutional Equity and Investment Management divisions of the firm.
From 2001 to 2011, James served as an Assistant District Attorney in New York County (Manhattan). At the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, he spent his first five years in the office’s Trial Division, prosecuting all levels of street crime, from petty theft to homicide. James spent his last five years as an Assistant District Attorney in the Frauds Bureau of the office’s Investigations Division, investigating and prosecuting all types of white-collar crime, including securities fraud, mortgage fraud, and other types of bank-related fraud. He was also cross-designated by the Governor of New York State as a Special Assistant Attorney General to investigate and prosecute a securities fraud case. Prior to law school, he served as a compliance analyst at the New York Mercantile Exchange.
