Constitution Center | Washington, DC

The Federal Trade Commission will host an all-day conference to take a comprehensive look at how identity theft has evolved over the last decade and what we can do to address this challenge in the future. Despite significant progress made to combat identity theft, it remains an issue for consumers a decade after the Identity Theft Task Force was established.

At the conference, academics, business and industry representatives, government experts, and consumer advocates will weigh in on the current state of identity theft, future challenges and how to address them, as well as the impact identity theft has on consumers.

Ellen Abbott, Manager of Consumer Investigations with Kroll’s Identity Theft & Breach Notification practice, will join a panel of experts at the 2 p.m. session to discuss identity theft from the victim’s perspective, including financial and non-financial ramifications as well as the challenges victims face in recovering and restoring their identities. Ellen leads a team of licensed personal investigators who have successfully restored identities for thousands of victims.
