To mark our 20th anniversary in London, we commissioned a report entitled Boom, Bang or Bust? Twenty years of global, technological and financial innovation, which looks at the trends which have most defined business success or failure over the past 20 years.
Bringing together qualitative analysis from industry leaders and economic data, we have identified a number of key themes which not only underlie developments during this time, but also lie at the heart of our services.
- Globalisation advising on the expansion into emerging markets has been a major part of our work, especially out of London.
- Economic stability leading to excessive leverage our European restructuring business has grown to handle major international restructurings as the scale of corporate failure has magnified.
- The enterprise culture and M&A another key area of work for us, whether it is helping clients with assessing and completing deals, with fending off unwanted advances or in cleaning up the aftermath of unsuccessful deals.
- Technology and innovation from protecting clients’ intellectual property to using cutting edge techniques for gathering, analysing, and presenting data, technology has transformed our service offerings.

- The pace of change has been relentless over the past 20 years, and businesses have faced a vast breadth of issues.
- Many changes have brought significant opportunities and – where they have been embraced by businesses and sectors – have served as a catalyst for growth.
- This has marked an unprecedented period of success for some, and indeed created an environment for the birth of many new, fast-growing, and now well-established businesses.
- The transformative changes and increased complexity that define this period have shifted from the exception to the norm.
